Choosing the Right Lifting Gear for the Job!

At PDQ lifting we have an extensive range of lifting gear for companies looking to either hire or purchase. As every piece of kit has its own intended job and limits it is essential that it is always used in the correct manner and weight limits are not exceeded.

All our equipment is fully safety tested and in total compliance with the LOLER act of 1998 which requires all Manriding equipment and Lifting Equipment be tested every 6 or 12 months.

Here at PDQ those tests are carried by a competent person as standard so you can be assured that any equipment purchased or hired from ourselves is good working order. Everything is checked before despatch and in the case of hires checked upon return.

Here we are going to take a look at some of the lifting gear that is regularly hired from our depots in Oldham, Huddersfield and Liverpool (we also sell lifting equipment UK wide): –

Spreader Beams/ Lifting Beams

Used to avoid crushing objects when you are picking them up with a crane.

Safe Working Load (SWL) – 10T- 100T

Lengths – 1 Metre – 15 Metre

Spreader beams are modular and can be broken down to 0.5M, 1M and 2M lengths for ease of transportation.

Hydraulic Jacks

Used for lifting objects from underneath, safe working loads of 5T – 100T

Chain blocks / Electric Chain blocks

Used for picking things up from above, either manual or 110V electric blocks are available.

Height of lift possible with this equipment ranges from 3 Metres up to 40 Metres.

SLA Genie lifts

Used to pick up objects from underneath and raise them to ceiling height.

SLA 10’s and SLA 20’s kept in hire fleet.
